I’ve given you all, my humble words.
I’ve given you, my hidden soul.
Words trickling, like the cool mountain streams.
Words dripping off the frozen ashen trees.
Words gliding across the icy lakes.
Words flowing through happiness, and sorrow.
I’ve given you all, my inner self.
I’ve given you, my outer grief.
Words Tumbling over the embedded rocks
Words twisting like the winding valley rivers.
Words cascading down the forest waterways.
Words sifting through my barren hands.
I’ve given you all, my lonely heart.
I’ve given you, my secret loves.
Words of life, like the deep blue oceans
Words of time, traveling to the stars beyond.
Words of love, drowning in the memory rains.
Words of mine, falling down upon dreams of tomorrow.
Ivor Steven.
You have let us all in to your life, Ivor, and we want to stay. We’ll all be around come summertime, when you’re throwing those king-sized shrimps on the barbee!!

Haha, the concrete still hasn’t been poured for the barbecue area under my verandah, “my friend the concreter”, ……. a day soon he said, 3 months ago !!

They just keep getting better and better. it can’t be long before this collection is in a book. This one really hit home with me; which is what great words are meant to do. When I got to the end, and saw all the pictures, I thought of all the people I’ve lost, and all that are still with me. Words can be powerful, but sometimes things we see, and remember, like the pictures, can be just as special. Have a great day. Here on the other side of the world, it’s morning, and my day is just starting.

Wow! Ivor, this is the sweetest poem ❤ The magic of words and love entwined. I loved the rhythm brought by the chorused phrases and words. What a delicious read! "Words trickling, like the cool mountain streams." You speak my language. The mountain girl in me was taken. ❤

Maybe you might write a song out these words, I’ve no problems with you using my words.

I can give it a try! If I manage to associate with a tune, it would turn into a beautiful song ❤ Thank you for your generosity!

Have been in Melbourne tonight, now on the train going back to Geelong . Have been to watch my niece April singing in the opera La Traviata, it was a fantastic production. And I’d be thrilled if you were to compose a tune for my words. ♡

I find it interesting that the images in the first stanza are “cool, frozen, and icy”. I have no other thoughts about them than that – although I do like the images.
You and I seem to share a fondness for nature. The images in your second stanza are especially striking to me.
Overall, the poem is quite moving. Intimate and moving. I think you must be addressing your blog audience, but it comes across with the force of speaking to each one of us individually.
I’m going to do something I rarely do. I’m going to bookmark this poem in a special folder I keep for poems I enjoy returning to again and again. Thank you so much for sharing it, Ivor.

Hi Paul.
Your praise is grand
I do love the land
I’m a simple guy
In my own mind, I do get by
I write to appease my soul
Beyond the end
There’s only one goal
Now I’m listening to Solsafir
Their music’s a spiritual stir
I’m singing their song ‘Otta”
I don’t understand a word
But crescendos move me
I’m pleased you hear my pulse
I’ve lived a life, saintly I’m not
Memories of her, never forgot.

Great music. Thanks for sharing. I take it I was wrong about your having written the poem for a blog audience. I’m guessing you wrote to your wife. Well, if so, I should have known that. 🙂
