Why is there always a dark side?
When the moon shines so bright
Who’s taking us on this blindfold ride?
While our reasoning is out of sight
Why is there always a silver lining
When the hazardous clouds are hovering so low
Who’s making the lower world enchanting?
While our malignant demons grow and grow
Why do we call them magic mushrooms?
When all they bring is gloom and doom
Who’s controlling this ageing Mother
While our pleading hands are hustled undercover
Ivor Steven.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

A spinning mix of images and thoughts, dark and light confusion. Demons growing and bright moon shining to lit our way in the absence of the guarding sun. Forces rising, battling to win us over. War raging outside and within, consuming so many people.
Yet in face of all that trouble and unnecessary violence your striking words depict, all I feel is peace. Even the gloomy moods of the skies above won’t make my soul sway.

And nor you should sway from your peace within. My words are questions and dreams from inside my head. So I wrote them down unabridged, and even Ivor’s not quite sure what to make of my thoughts, but there out my head, and I’ll sleep betterer tonight. I’ve seen your new post, but I’m far too tired tonight to read and shall be resting now until the morning, Cheers my friend ♡

Bonne nuit, mon ami! I hope your heart is free now that the words have poured out. Writing helps make our hearts and minds feel lighter and see clearer.

Balance of dark and light. My most recent poem is about that too. Guess it’s in the air lately. Hehe

in view of the date, it is not surprising that this poem is again very dark and sad, though beautiful. The personal dark memories and current events also come forward again.
Why all this agony, this misery, this fear? Because we shall overcome them so we can learn to love, trust and respect? Because we shall find faith again? All together probably. We must not let the demons grow. They poison everything and no advance is possible. We have to see the good, spread the good, and convince with the joy of life and creativity in every small note. Hahaha …. easier said than done … but that’s the way I think. I hope I could add some light my dear Ivor.

Yes Dear Anie, I agree, but when I have these awful thoughts and dreams, I’m compeled to write them down. My words are not supposed to be about doom and gloom, hopefully they read as as asking the questions… and we need people to listen and keep asking the questions…. Again thankyou for your amazing response….

Ohh, thank you Ivor, you have very well explained. I think I finally got it. I often feel so desperate when I read such sad things. It hurts as if I were personally attacked. But actually I should see it like this: the sad thoughts which you put in your stories and poetry are now no longer complete inside of you, but in the history / poetry? And as someone is commenting and talking about, maybe this gives confort and let more sadness come out of you and in the story / poetry …. ohh God, anybody will understand what I wrote?

This anybody understands you completely, and yes, my words are from my heart, and once I’ve poured my feelings out, I feel relieved and happy with my words.

Oh, this is beautiful, then I ‘ll try to treat sad poems equal to happy poems in the future! And you can feel happy with your words, because you are writing great poems!
