Is There A Light

The cold morning frost, accompanies a winter’s dawn.

I’m snuggling warm in bed, wondering about the day ahead.

It’s Sunday, my home’s empty, a great void instead.

The cool quiet and the loneliness, are unbearable.

The passageway to my light is dark, and hard to feel.

If only I knew, the light at the end of the tunnel was real.

In this grotto of fading night, lying low, out of sight.

Where my dreams are false, waiting for another right.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I read this a number of times and I think it became more lovely each time I read it and really focused on each line. I feel like I haven’t seen your poems a lot lately and I hope that isn’t because the reader has been playing fooly tricks on me! 💖

    1. The Headmaster was my last one on Monday, and I’m glad you liked this one, I’ve been a busy plumber this week, and in between I’ve been visiting some very sick friends. Xx

    1. Thanks, such a lovely question. I try to post a poem every 2nd or 3rd day. Some are from my old writings, and these ones I usually completely rehash to suit my present circumstances, and then there’s the new poems that I write, maybe 2 a week. I not a prolific writer, as I still struggle with my vocabulary, and mental tiredness, the residual aftereffects of my Stroke. Although it’s a battle for me sometimes to keep writing I thoroughly enjoy my writing, and the stimulation I receive from my own words, and all the wonderful friends I’ve made through my blog site, over this short 4 month period.

      1. I believe the same as you. Quality not Quantity. The followers you interact with through your blog really “get you.” And that’s all any of us want. Right?
