Sometimes in life

Just when it’s right

There’s that moment

And tonight’s that moment

Sometimes we’re lucky

Against all the odds

There’s that fortunate time

And I’m feeling blessed

I’m so comfortable

And I’m gratefully satisfied

Writing these words on todays Newspaper

Reading tomorrows weather report

Peace is finally here

Here right beside of me

Under my verandah roof

Cool and relaxed

Loving the luxury of home

That’s all before me now.

Displaying the fruits of my life.

The picture below is of the scribblings on the newspaper I was using as a pad, trying to write this poem. I was just home from the pub, enjoying my music, and sipping on a glass of port, and somehow managed to read Β these words and type them up !!

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Glad you were able to find something to write your lovely thoughts on. I’m usually in the shower when inspiration suddenly hits me. So then I’m left diving for a towel, leaving puddles behind me, and by the time I’ve reached something to write on, I’ve usually forgotten what I wanted to say. Lol…

  2. Wow! I can feel the peaceful atmosphere – that “aahhhh moment that comes so rarely.
What a lovely space to relax in. Is it my imagination, or do you have a handy piece of plumbed porcelain tucked under that bench to the right of the photo?
