75 Years Ago, Today

Her last words were, “how can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause? Such a fine sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?”

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. The sad part is Ivor, that many of us do get it. And don’t want anything like that repeated, ever. But there are always ‘those’ who do not think like the majority, but who have a horrible impact on us all.

  2. War does strange things to us, doesn’t it. It makes monsters of some. And heroes of others. Even after all this time has passed we continue to hear more new stories about those who literally took their lives in their hands to fight for justice, to save lives, to stop the atrocities. God bless each and every one of them.

  3. Brilliant post. Thank you so much for drawing eyes to the amazing story of Sophie Scholl. Many years ago, I was lucky enough to meet one of the last surviving members of the White Rose movement and I’ll never forget it. Incredibly brave people. xxx
