Beyond Sunset

Gradually the dying moonlight awakened my dawn.

And the baptizing sunrise watered my eyes.

Drowning the working hours of my shallow day.

Dampening fiery thoughts of playing in the hay.

Dusk hazily shrouds my cemetery lawn.

And the rituals of sunset beckon my daily plight.

Flailing and falling upon sleepless night.

Finally laying prone under my weighted crown.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Your magic potion of words are certainly soothing my morning aches, I’m afraid you’ll have to stay now. I’ll have breakfast in bed, thanks, Weetbix, and a lemon and ginger tea 🍡 😊

  2. A little late in checking in on this post, my apologies.

I know just where you’re coming from on this Ivor. Good morns and bad morns, but tomorrow is another day, a new dawn and a new sunset. Everything changes from day to day, that’s the way we roll xx πŸ™‚
