I’ve a red-hot poker in my belly
I’m bleeding fiery ember ashes
Choking my blackened reality
Blinded by my burning eyelashes
…….
Please don’t kick me
Pick me up, I’m free
Carry me one more mile
My stone-face will smile
…….
Green blankets everything
Under our earth’s blue sky
From here to your side
…….
May you balance like a petite ballerina
Toe-pointing your way through the tulips
May you taste fragrances of truth and pleasure
Tip-toeing gently upon your goddesses flower

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Thanks Gina, I’m pleased you liked my photos. I took them last evening, under a clear blue sky, just at the end of my lane, only 100 metres from my front door, I was lucky the pictures came out so well, I’m not a good photographer, hahaha, these new phones are incredible, and my computer is able to enhance and adjust my pictures.

I think you take really good photos Ivor and there’s no good or bad photography when it comes to capturing nature in her finest beauty, she always puts on her best. it’s your ken eye and you capture the moment very nicely.

No Ivor, but all four of our daughters did. We made sure they had all the opportunities neither of us had.

Oh dear Ivor, someone has just got back to me to ask what on earth I was talking about. Apparently, I wrote a reply to your previous comment on his blog instead of yours. No good at multi tasking am I? Anyway, here is the reply…
Post war Britain and a working class family such as ours, it would have been the farthest things from their minds, but looking back even if it had been offered I would probably have declined, I was far too much of a Tom boy!
