Memory Rain

I’ve made a few little changes to this poem, I originally posted August 24th 2017, I think my updated version added some softness to my poem.

Every time I opened our photo album

I saw her personal emblem

Every time I turned about-face

I felt pain and soft rain again

Every time I switched on the screen

I waited for a different dream

Every time I tried another channel

I cried during the battle

Every time I played another sad tune

I sang until the next full moon

Every time I walked out the back door

My head would be in the clouds

Every time I looked up to heaven

My angel stood waiting at the gate

I’d see the rain on her face

I’d feel the memory rain again.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Your beautiful poem brings to mind something that was said to me long ago. “The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.” Your Angel must be smiling at you. Thank-you!

      1. Oh wow, Soiba I’ve just read your link, it’s so kind of you 😙, I’m both humbled and privileged. I suppose we’re nearly having our anniversaries together, mine was a few weeks ago, so we’ve been together for a whole, may we stay bonded for many more years to come. Lots of love 😍 Ivor xx
