Hot Like An Oven

Photo Challenge-Heat-Wave

This Weeks Photo Prompt is Heat-wave.

It was hard for me here in Geelong, we’re experiencing a winters cold spell and zero temperatures, so the closest I could get to a heat-wave was my stupid electric oven, with its faulty thermostat, and the oven just gets hotter and hotter, as the temperature setting doesn’t work at all, and everything in the oven gets burnt to a crisp, as the temperature keeps rising and rising !!

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. It is winter in Australia, right? I am in Europe with high summer temperatures. My companion is now a ventilator standing beside me. But in winter we get lower temperatures, also in the area of Barcelona, rarely below zero, though it might happen for a day or two. I am lucky to have central heating even though it is very difficult to heat my place in winter. Do you not have central heating? Of course there is nothing better than a warm embrace. Love the picture of your younger self and your partner, wife, friend…?

      1. I am sorry for your loss. This is a harder issue than the loss of a parent. However, no matter how painful the situation we must learn to let go and accept loss. I have read some philosophy and psychology books that have helped. Husband, friends and a psychologist have helped too. My father died in 2015 and he was a very important rock to me. He made me a stronger person. I am usually very creative and believe our creativity always helps. Keep writing and sharing. What you do, your beautiful poems and blog, is precious for all of us. Have a lovely day and see you in the realms of wordpress.com! ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒˆโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

      2. Thank you for your kind words and thoughts Marta. Yes I try to keep myself busy, and I’m enjoying my writings and being creative. I miss my dad too, he was my best mate and my rock, and my mum was my guardian angel ๐Ÿ˜‡, they both passed in the last few years, it’s all been a sad time for me, but my memories are all wonderful treasures now. Maybe this little poem explains my love for them all
