What message just for you
is hidden in this ancient writing?
The Time-travelers have been and gone
Transcending the stars and beyond
Leaving us the message carved in stone
Obvious warnings, pointing the bone
“You are not worthy, nor grand
to care for Mother Earth’s beautiful land”
Decrying our human-kinds faults
Locking our world’s children in vaults
Poisoning our plants, rivers, and seas
Contaminating the air we breathe
Burning our forests
Vehicle fumes
Nuclear bombs
Rulers greed
Before we even feed
Our fellow-man
Slaughter upon slaughter
Like we’re lambs
Guns and bullets
Millions for every bloody stand
Like dead seeds in our hands
Not giving life, only death and sand
We are not worthy, nor grand
It’s time, to make a stand
Who’s going to lead our band

we are not worthy or grand, a good reminder of our fragility as a species too. beautiful poem on loving our earth and fellow man. so much destruction, it saddens me to see natural beauty taken for granted.

Thank you dear Gina, yes my feelings and thoughts are pouring out of me, i’m deeply distressed at the state of things in our world, and he latest tragedy of locking up the children is devastating, and I feel their suffering, I’m crying for them, I can’t imagine what it would’ve been like, to being separated from parents when I was at such a tender age.

yes Ivor, i have been reading those news reports too and here in Asia we also see a lot of child beggars kidnapped from families or sold into child labour, it’s very heart wrenching and i feel very helpless. i totally understand how you feel, I hope and pray that writing like yours creates more awareness but humans seemed to have lost their humanity. let the words flow Ivor, it wakes us up from our safe dreams.

Yes Gina, I must let the words flow, my poems make me feel I’m at least doing something to help in my own small way. xx

Life can be tiring, I definitely understand, I’ve hardly done any comments this week, I worked every day this week, and I’m so tired, both physically and mentally. Now I’ve a weekend to rest and recover.

i hope it will be a good rest and recover weekend for you Ivor, doing things just for yourself even if its just sitting out in the porch and enjoying your beautiful garden. i have been worked ragged and the coming few weeks look just as bad, thinking of you and sending good vibes across the seas. i know tour readers and followers appreciate you just reading and not commenting, we all have these cycles we need to get through, you are a favourite writer of many bloggers!

Oh Gina you’re so kind and thoughtful, even though your running “ragged” yourself, hopefully you may have a little relax on your weekend too….. xx

Each day I get up thinking this situation can’t get any worse. And each day it seems it does. Where are the heroes in both our countries, Ivor?

I’ve got such a dark imagination, I sometimes wonder what what’s-his-name had planned to do with all those children…

These prompts are so creative Ivor. How do you find these? Your poem is powerful. I love the repeated phrase, very unique, “…not worthy nor grand. ” Almost feels like a condemnation from Mama Earth’s bones, were they given a voice. I do hope she’ll forgive us. I don’t think it’s too late. ♥.

If we all do the part that we can do, and are meant to do, differences/changes will happen.
