White Winter Moon

Do you see above the horizon

A bright white winter moon

Silhouetted against the afternoon sky

Do you see my vision

A dark blue dusk, like a cloudless spoon

Cupping my angels ivory chalice ahigh

Hi, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm a retired, part-time plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for 18 months, and writing poems for nearly 18 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Gina, I wanted to write something short and beautiful, and I always find a daytime moon extremely fascinating. I’ve no computer until next Thursday if I’m lucky. So I’m quite limited to what I can do on my phone. Using the TV smart box is too clumsy and slow, so I’m just playing my YouTube on the TV. 😊

      1. oh too bad on the computer but you are very resourceful! a true writer and poet to the core Ivor, nothing will keep your words from reaching the world. hope it comes back with extra power to go vroom! i spotted the moon and sun in the same sky on my run last night. it was super cool. the daytime moon is quite cheeky.

  1. I love the moon every day and night, but even more so in winter! On cloudless nights it gives off such a bright glow…so Coop and I take our night time walks with the moon as our companion!
    I love your poem! Beautiful!

  2. Love your little poem and have always liked the song. I like looking at the moon, I enjoy watching the clouds too and finding faces. As a child I thought heaven was in the clouds and all the faces I saw were dead people!
