Beyond My Time Here

words written, her silent years

every fallen tear

words written, out of sheer fear

often drowning in beer

words written, not so severe

my everlasting revere

words written, for everyone to hear

exploring a new frontier

words written, clouds beginning to clear

searching for love, far away and near

words written, needing someone to steer

tomorrow, and beyond my time here

Hi, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm a retired, part-time plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for 18 months, and writing poems for nearly 18 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Cyndy has seen Cooper, she flapped her fluffy ears, and wagged her tail, I think she loves your boy xx. Thank you ❤️ for your kind words, my poem was a rehash of an old one out of archives 😁

      1. you must have loads since you have been writing for quite awhile now. It is always rewarding to revisit old writing and rework, perspectives change and sometimes a new poem comes out or even just one word change can give it a whole new meaning. hope you are enjoying your Sunday Ivor.

  1. I love this because of how grounded and real it sounds, I think it was the line about beer. I dunno, you know I suck at explaining why I like something so much but I really did like how you did this – as bloody always!

      1. I think that is so wonderful. Back when I first started seeing Susan, I told my son that I felt like I was cheating on his mother. This is what he said to me, “Dad, Mom would not want you to be alone.” I will always love my Aledia (Lee), and Susan knows that and is fine with it. Lee died just two weeks shy of our 35th wedding anniversary, and we were together for 37 years. Love never ends my friend, and I’m sure Carole wants you to be happy. Susan and I celebrated oujr 15th on the 21st, and I tease her, telling her I’ve now been married for 50 years, lol.

  2. I LOVE the poem. But having read the other comments and taken a good look at that gorgeous dog, I have come to the conclusion that Cyndy is a King Charles Spaniel. That would make her a close cousin to George and Gracie. I think I am in love with your dog. Seriously, the poem is beautiful and so true. oxoxox
