G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

What a superb haiku Ivor encased in a beautifully balanced post. Very well presented!
Thank you Colleen, you inspired me to write something about that lovely event of being entertained in an old Chinese family home, and the actual house was 500 years old, … I felt so privileged to be there……..
500 years old!!!!! Oh Ivor! Can you imagine the change of life over all of those years. The people who sat there and talked about their lives, lived their lives! in such different times. My mind is on fire with that!
Oh Iβm so happy it was awesome but Iβm sorry you werenβt fully recovered. Oh mine is the same old stuff. If my mind could recover I would be happy. Thank you Ivor
Thanks for the ((hugs)). I’m physically and mentally struggling at the moment, the adrenaline has worn off, and I didn’t realise how sick and tired I was during my trip !! Adrenaline can get us through some tough situations πππβ€οΈ
Yes, it does. And then eventually we “crash”. Hope you can get some rest and feel chipper again soon!
I just left a comment to you comment on my bird poems. Thank you! Your words are like encouraging wings to me! They lift me up and make me want to keep trying my hand at poetry!
HUGS!!! π
A beautiful Haiku with beautiful music. I could not ask for more! When i read your replies to comments, I realize even more what a genuine, loving and caring man you are. I am sorry to read that your are still ill dear friend. Please, rest and recuperate. You have such wonderful memories of your adventure to write about, but let your body heal and please don’t overdo it. Thank you for being you Ivor. βΊβ€
Thank you for your well wishes Walt, and hopefully with a few more days rest , i’ll be chipper again. The Haiku came out easy, the friendly atmosphere and music was inspirational…
There is something ethereal about Chinese music. I often hear similarities between Chinese and Native American music. Both different, yet hauntingly similar. βΊπ And you are very welcome Ivor.

We were very privileged to be entertained in an actual family home courtyard, and then we enjoyed a traditional Chinese home-cooked meal.

My trip to China was awesome, although I was unwell the whole trip, and I’m still tired and coughing a lot…. xxx I hope you’re recovering too.

I’ve been listening to Chinese music while I’m recovering here, and it’s very soothing for the soul.
