Hi, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm a retired, part-time plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for 18 months, and writing poems for nearly 18 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

A fitting tribute to an old warrior.
What I am thinking about after reading this…that you ARE a warrior, Ivor! Keep moving forward! Keep impacting the world with your writing and your amazing spirit! Your spirit and attitude are contagious and helps me and so many other people! π
Thank you Carolyn for your kind words of encouragement. And yes I think and hope I’m able to impart some of my life’s experience onto others through my writings and for me that warms my heart, and makes me feel positive about my poems, that I might be helping some others out, who are now going through what I’ve already experienced. When I first started caring for Carole, I had this awful feeling that I was battling the world alone…… You are not alone…… is what I’m trying to say to them, and your life can be lived normally by reaching out and sharing your situation…… you feel so estranged from the rest of the world…….. it’s so hard to explain……. and I’m just trying to help them…. you are not alone…. xxxx
Your message is a powerful one…and not just words or even true words…you have lived it and have survived and thrived so that makes your words even more powerful and important! π
I try to do the same in reaching out. If I have been through something I try to share with others that I lived through it and I am still standing. π And still finding joy in each day. π
More HUGS!!! π
I’m pleased you understood my character, yes, I suppose that’s how I was unable to care for Carole for 30 years, and 6 years on, I’m still going strong …..
