A Bike To New York

Come rain hail or shine

I’ll be ready for that Qantas Airline

Now I’ll always have time

To appear like I’m in my prime

I’ve a second-hand new toy

That’ll bring me pain and joy

Donated by a kind friend

Helping me get back on the mend

I’m fortunate and high as a purple kite

Under my verandah, I’ve a new silver bike

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. No I’ve not done that yet, it arrived early this morning. The setting can’t be changed, but it’s set on easy, so ok for me…Maybe “Qantas” is a good or “York”, that’s the name on the bike, if you look closely 😊

      1. You got that “right” Ivor, the correct side of the road and the car! LOL. The toilets flush in a different direction also.

If you think you might get home sick. Bring a shovel, word on the street is you can dig yourself to China or Australia from America!

        Safe travels Ivor!

  1. Wow! A great new ride, Silver Streak! 😉 🙂
Yes, get yourself ready for all the walking you will do on your trip!
I hope you won’t feel like a stranger on your trip. There are many wonderful, friendly, kind people in the USA…even in big cities like NY! 🙂
    HUGS!!! 🙂

    1. No I won’t be feeling like a stranger, just a good old song I liked that seemed to fit. And yes I need to get fit…. And here I was talking about my silver bike in a poem the other day …..!!

      1. Thank you Carolyn, and yes it’s been another tough time. I’m a bit older now, and it’s definitely a lot harder, and I’m afraid I’ve got to take it a lot slower…. !!

      1. Yes you have Ivor. I do love the pedaling. I save all of the shows I want to watch for when I”m on the bike at home. Makes riding more fun. 🙂
