Yorkie And Me

Yorkie’s staring at me vacantly

Like I’m a strange tattooed bikie

Sitting on him, me anxiously crying away

Why am I crying, he quietly says

Looking at me with those big silver eyes

Pondering whether he’s hurting me

Is the ride too much pain

Is all the walking a physical drain

No !! None of that I exclaim, crying tears again

I’m crying wondering, if I’ll ever get there

Crying, because I cannot wait to be there

Crying with embarrassment, for the tears I’ll shed when I’m there

Suddenly, Yorkie barks out at me

Oh Ivor, keep pedalling, toughen-up and and you’ll arrive

Yes, me and my companion Yorkie, have become friends.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Shefali, Yorkie has me working 😁. Seeing my physiotherapist tomorrow, and we will work out a program of exercises for me to do 😁🤗

  1. YAY for your new friend Yorkie who wants to help you be all you can be! 😉
Don’t be too hard on yourself! One ride at a time! You WILL reach your goals, I just know it!!! 🙂
You know I’m big on crying…I cry when I’m happy, I cry when I’m sad, I cry at weddings, I cry at sweet TV commercials, I cry when babies are born, I cry when anyone else is crying, I cry reading certain poems, I cry looking at a beautiful piece of artwork, I cry when I hear certain songs…ETC…well, you get the picture. I cry a LOT! 🙂 Don’t ever be embarrassed to cry. We need more people like you in the world, Ivor…people with deep, precious feelings, compassion, big hearts, wonderful souls!

  2. You are very tough! Have faith in yourself and be forgiving when things are a bit rough. Try remember in those moments it’s the right now not the forever! Cheering you on! 🙌💕
