Carrot

In my palm

A fresh carrot

I have found

Covered in dirt

Out of the ground

A tapered cylinder

I wash and peel

Pure orange and long

Chopped into three

Uncooked I eat

Piece by piece

Every bite a kiss

Crisp and tasty

Nature is bliss

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I love love love the simplicity of the drawing. And the freshness and simplicity of your words enjoying the carrot. Now I want a carrot. But we have 6 inches of snow and I am content to enjoy the carrot through your words. πŸ˜‰

      1. My Graham used to grow a lot of veg, after he died I hadn’t a clue what he’d planted, I had to wait for everything to grow to find out, but I watered and fed regularly and reaped the benefit in the summer. I enjoyed it.
