I’m too tired to continue
Carrying this Olympus torch
The flame is not staying alight
Under my sheltering porch
All I want to do
Is watch the birds
And selfishly forget
The hungry and dying herds
My bell has become too hollow
To ring against the war
Too heavy to lift
High above the floor
Too wide to pass
Through the Whitehouse door
Too noisy to tell
Humanity the real score
Soon we’ll all board the Ark
Row away from our shores
Fly our rescue flag aft
Explore the sky with Thor
Listen to the heavens
Hear the peace-bells last encore
Proudly ring the bells that still can ring
Chiming so loud, no-one can ignore
Ivor Steven (c) 2019
{{{Ivor}}} It’s not a bit selfish to rest and listen to the birds and let the world spin on for a while while you heal. Sending good vibes, healing thoughts, hugs and love. Speaking of beautiful songs about bells (so love this one you shared) here’s one that always helps me feel better. ♥.

*hugs* Well like I wrote to you elsewhere, “Maybe I can’t stop the downpour, but I’ll always join you for a walk in the rain.” ☼ Good vibes ☼ still coming your way. ♥.

I’m with you, Ivor. There’s not much us oldies can do except tutor those younger not to make our mistakes. Which they will, for they are human. The world is a wonderful and horrible place, and we have to be content on where we have landed. Don’t get an ulcer over what you cannot change.

I felt every word, Ivor. It is OK to retreat from the world. There is a time for action and a time to reflect and restructure. The pain that comes with change is a universal experience, reflected in the power of this poem.

Nice to hear those reflective words Robert. I suppose I’ve been in hospital and out hospital so many times lately that I’m becoming blase about the world around me, and getting far too sarcastic about governments and their continual fascination with money and greed.

You have so right my friend!!
All my life I’ve been waiting for I’ve been praying for
For the people to say
That we don’t wanna fight no more
There will be no more wars
And our children will play
One day It’s not about Win or lose
‘Cause we all lose
When they feed on the souls of the innocent
Blood-drenched pavement
Keep on moving though the waters stay raging

You look at the photo one way, it’s the bird with a yellow beak.
You till it another way, it becomes a Rabbit and the yellow beak become yellow ears!
So goes your deep poem!

Beautiful, powerful…and poignant to me.
Rest, renew, rejuvenate. 🙂
How are you doing today, Ivor? Home, yet?

Yes, I’m finally back home now. The results/tests, didn’t clear my name, they’re still not sure of what’s causes these problems, but they are hoping my new medications might be able to help control my clots. Anyhow, I can continue with my rehab program, so it’s all system go again. xx
“I’m Home”
I’m not quite on song
Home’s where I belong
Humming ballad songs
I’m going, right or wrong
I’ve made up my mind
Even though life’s unkind
We only live once
And this is my dance
Dreams are living on
Life shouldn’t be postponed
Realities push and thrive
My future is still alive
She’ll gently take my hand
And show me the distant lands

OH! I’m so glad you are finally home! Whew! 🙂
Sorry to hear they didn’t figure out something to help you, so I hope the new meds WILL help! And so glad you can continue your rehab program!
OH~Thank you for sharing this poem! It is so beautiful and heart-tugging!
The lines “This is my dance” and “Life shouldn’t be postponed” just jumped out at me. I needed to remind myself daily of those very things.
