Haiku: Our River

Dedicated to my dear wife, to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday the 17th April. I think my words say enough……    I’m  proud and honoured to present this Haiku on, “Go Dog Go Cafe” Promote Yourself Monday’s, and a sincere thank you to, ‘Midwest Fantasy’, for the invitation. I’m quite emotional this week, and I’ll apologise to fellow writers, and their articles, if I’m not reading and commenting, with my usual zest……

Haiku:

Our River

A true love runs deep

Our river flowed over rocks

Stones soften to sand

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Oh tears are my way of smiling, my tear ducts were broken, beyond repair, 37 years ago, in a thousand years I could never explain what we went through,…. I’ve been trying with my poetry, I haven’t even touched the first star yet…… but there’s no need….. she knows anyhow…. xxxx

    1. It’s nearly 7 years, it was 2 weeks after her birthday, I’m afraid her last birthday was spent in hospital… She was a glorious lady, she an inspirational friend to everyone who were fortunate enough to have known her…. I many wonderful memories Gael, thank you for your lovely words

  1. So much depth in so few words.
โ€œStones soften to sandโ€ can mean loss, but it can also mean the passage of time (a life together) and that there should be no hard lines drawn between two who are in love.

  2. Beautiful words in your Haiku Ivor, your never ending love shines through. I hope the happy times you shared through all your years together, will come to the fore during these difficult anniversaries. The sad times you had are part of your story, but I hope the happy memories will warm your heart.
