Worms and Ants

I’m under a dome, inside a maze

A giant steel worm farm

Crawling with thousands of ants

Bugs of all shapes and forms

Some are dazed, dumbfounded like me

Others stride out bold and carefree

Seeking their worm’s tunnel

Walking down an endless funnel

Where the guzzling worms stop and go

Slurping ants up, riding to and fro

Oh no, which steel worm to catch

Before the grinding halt, to hatch

Unfazed, into a mysterious belly I jump

The giant worm rattles at every bump

Rolling through underground passages

And all the ants are reading messages

I quietly ask one, “where do I get off this worm”

Ah, “You’re in the wrong tunnel “, I’m lost !!

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Ohh, the NYC underground (and the London one, for that matter) is a beast, Ivor.. I feel your pain, but you’ve expressed it wonderfully! It is pretty incredible though, too, the speed you can get across Manhattan is amazing! How much longer do you have there? I know you’ve probably got it pretty much planned out, but if you’re still there tomorrow night, there’s a fantastic blues jam in Greenwich Village, where some of our lovely NYC friends play. There are some big names that play in the blues circuit there, & the music & musicianship is top notch! All sorts of people turn up with their instruments, one of the regulars, on keys, played at Woodstock with Country Joe & The Fish. I can give you more information if you’re still there & interested 😊

Really the whole adventure was about seeing my cousins and my special niece Kerri, and I just threw in New York to have a look….

    1. Yes, the giant worms bugged me all weekend.
I’m off to Philadelphia at noon on Monday, so shower, breakfast and pack my bags, then it will be time to get a taxi(no worm) to Pen station !!
Plenty of hugs in Philadelphia 🤗🤗🤗🙄💜
