The Wedding, I Wait In Anticipation

This week’s Word Prompt is ANTICIPATION.

The Wedding, I Wait In Anticipation

The jet-lag is really real

Yes, the fourth evening in a row

That I’ve had to go to bed early

Although I’m gradually adjusting

I’ll be back to normal by Saturday

My younger sister’s wedding day

And I’ll be reciting a poem for her

Hopefully my love for her, is expressed in these words

“Miffy And John”

” I’ve returned from distant lands

To celebrate the joining of these loving hands

Our King, knighted this man “Honest John”

We know our dad was not wrong

Our queen, bestowed this girl with kindness

We know our mum was always the best

And with their blessings from heaven

I’m proud to accept their wisdom, here on cloud seven

Wishing my gracious sister, and new brother

All the best for a glorious future together”

The Joke’s On Them, By: Brandi Carlile

“The Joke”, a song by Brandi Carlile. the lyrics(below) fascinate me, and I hope you enjoy my presentation today.

The Joke, Lyrics.

You’re feeling nervous, aren’t you, boy?
With your quiet voice and impeccable style
Don’t ever let them steal your joy
And your gentle ways, to keep ’em from running wild
They can kick dirt in your face
Dress you down, and tell you that your place
Is in the middle, when they hate the way you shine
I see you tugging on your shirt
Trying to hide inside of it and hide how much it hurts

Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them

You get discouraged, don’t you, girl?
It’s your brother’s world for a while longer
We gotta dance with the devil on a river
To beat the stream
Call it living the dream, call it kicking the ladder
They come to kick dirt in your face
To call you weak and then displace you
After carrying your baby on your back across the desert
I saw your eyes behind your hair
And you’re looking tired, but you don’t look scared

Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them

Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them

Love United, Under Distant Skies (For Kerri)

I am also posting this poem for “Kerri”, on “Go Dog Go Cafe”, Promote Yourself Monday, Please readers go and visit their fabulous site, Click >>Here..

Through the mist of my tears

I saw droplets run down her cheeks

Our moist eyes met

And I kissed her on the lips

With love, from my softened soul

I felt the depth of her inner strength

Radiate from within her petite body.

Now, finally we have embraced

And encountered our forever dreams

The bells of respect clearly chimed

Ringing joyful tunes, and our duets were living proof

That our hearts were lovingly entwined

Under alien stars, and united by our distant skies

Confirming a bond, that will never be broken.

It’s Time To Leave

It’s time to tidy up my mess

Clean up the room and get dressed

It’s time to pack my suitcase

Fill the travel bag and vacate this place

It’s time to put on my famous rocker shoes

And walk away from this dream so true

It’s time to say heartfelt goodbyes

To these wonderful Philadelphian guys

It’s time for final hugs and kisses

Sad farewells and best wishes

It’s time for my usual emotional tears

Separate myself from these every day cheers

It’s time to flyaway from a land of Dragons and fairies

Leave this magical world of faraway families

It’s time to say a million thank you’s

For making my stay a Really Real great do

It’s time for me to travel back home

With glorious memories of this mystical thunderdome

Feel The River Flow

There’s more to see, and things to do

Steel bridges and worn cobblestones

Wide rivers and heavy highways

Waterfront peirs and riverside parks

Ancient history and old monuments

Suburban Philadelphia and New Jersey cross-overs

Faraway cousins and new family’s found

Niece’s, nephews and grandchildren abound

Greeting hugs and welcoming hearts

Blissful times and precious memories

Kingdom of Flowers

A mother’s day poem for all the wonderful Mum’s out there today and everyday !! especially my three wonderful cousins Terry, Joanne and Maureen, love you xx

Kingdom of Flowers

I stood in His kingdom today

Of flowers and fragrances

Holding her colourful bouquet

Amazed by His stunning flower-bed

I gazed at heaven’s golden archway

Guarded by rows of leafy hedges

Underneath, lay edges of reds and blues

And soft petals of yellows and purples

I floated, from the ground cover shrubbery

To the canopy’s crested scenery

Where the horizon’s reflection

enchanted my eye

Sprinkling rainbows across His azure sky

My Poetry Day

Friday here in Philadelphia, I spent visiting a couple of historical sites yesterday, and I was fortunate enough to visit the house where Edgar Allan Poe had lived during his time in Philadelphia. I also went to house where Walt Whitman lived in the later part of his life.

If you wish to read the entire poem of Edgar Poet’s “Raven'” please click on the link below.

The Raven

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
“’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door—
Only this and nothing more.”
