Dragons And Faeries

Dragons And Faeries

My dragon flew me to New York

His scaly tail was singed

By the stoic statue’s torch

As we were landing, upon Central Park

And in the city’s mystical forest I stood

Amongst strawberry fields and woods

Atop the plaque of my dreams

I imagined, how life should’ve been

My naked soul, a vision unseen

I have a dream, like John’s world

Togetherness, love pristine

The apple uneaten

And the snake shyly beaten

I see peace, within evil’s tiredness

Burnt-out flames, of the devil’s nakedness

Leaving us life’s leftover ashes

Then the peace dove shall arise from the ruins

And the lost faeries, will return as humans

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. So glad to see you capturing some of the spirit of New York, Ivor. I know it can seem very daunting if you’re not used to big cities, but Central Park certainly offers some solace & calm from the madness of the city, & exactly why it was developed. No better place than Strawberry Fields, “Give Peace A Chance” eh! 🤞😊
