An Old Plumber, An Ex-Carer, An Amateur Poet, Words From The Heart
Trees, We Apologise To Thee
Today I’ve added another Haiku to my piece from yesterday to create a dual Haiku, I hope it doesn’t detract from the heartfelt intentions of my original Haiku, and I’ve also added another piece of glorious music by Ludovico Einaudi.Β Thank you Kate, of Calmkate, for the excellent photo prompt
G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

lovely music, where are these trees, I don’t know them?
Thanks for joining in Ivor π
Your trio of photo, haiku, and song bring joy-tears, Ivor! π
I love trees! And you won’t be surprised to hear I’ve hugged quite a few trees in my life! I feel akin to them! I appreciate them, their sheltering arms, their shade, their provisions, their watchful eyes, etc.! π
HUGS!!! π
I love — I cherish — the imagery in your haiku. I am not anywhere near to an expert on haiku, but isn’t this one almost a perfect expression of autumn? Colors and shadows — that’s the afternoon fall foliage to me.
I have been studying wabi sabi aesthetics, Ivor. The notion that art should not try for perfection, but rather should try to fall just short of it — as everything in nature does. This poem strikes me like that. It’s slight imperfections make it so moving, so poignant.
Oh, dear Paul, your wonderful comments have made me emotional, and I’m completely teared up. I’ll never be perfect, but I’m really choked up. this song/words from Leonard Cohen, always gets me that way, and here’s a glorious version by Nick Cave…… that touches me deeply… as you have tonight…. ((Hugs)) my friend…..
A little bit of self training and you can do it… have a notebook and pencil (it must be a pencil, so you write lying down) beside you at night, and jot down lines/or pieces from your dream during the night, and then later in the morning expand on those memories/thoughts/feelings that were in your dream….. It doesn’t happen overnight, but you’ll gradually form a pleasant and creative habit……. xx
Yes, we need to hug trees and apologize to them! They do so much and around here people just cut them down for aesthetics or to make room for more McMansions. It is quite sad really. Your sentiments are wonderfully expressed!
Wow that tree! What kind of tree is that? So beautiful (1st off). Also, I loved your haiku! And thank you for sharing this music — glorious is a very good word for it! β₯.
I love this haiku, Ivor! Trees have inspired much of my writing and have a special place in my heart. How empty the world would be without trees. Thank you for following BrewNSpew.
My pleasure Eugenia, funny I thought I was already following, ππ€. Yes I write a lot about our environment, and trees have always been a part of my surroundings (fortunately)
Trees are amazing, as a child in Australia I had swings in a tall Gum Tree, I spent hours there swinging. I still love swings to this day and of course if they are hung on a tree all the better.
It is very ugly. I had to stop my Facebook I was following some Australians who are dedicated to conservation it is heartbreaking what the government has allowed big corporations to do destroying the flora and fauna. The coral reef being destroyed for the sake of coal. Nothing being done.
I’m afraid our Australian government are one of the worst offenders in the world, when it comes to the protection of our native fauna and flora, and at times it is totally heart breaking, but I shall keep writing my protest poems, we must keep the public awareness going… πππ

Haiku: Trees, We Apologise To Thee
Ancient trees of life
Anoint colour to the sky
Cast shadows aground
I, hugging a tree
I, apologise to thee
I, seek mindful peace

We have to apologise as we defile their existence.
