The Song Plays Through the Night

I twist and roll over

A musical world spins inside my head

My somersault of dreams

Rotates under my bed-spread

Upside down

Rhythmical tiredness falls out of my seams

Words tumble around

Nameless titles and endless tunes abound

The bad moon’s turning

Singing the blues, over my empty town

I twist and roll over, again

I’m back where I started, I hear my angel humming, Hallelujah

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Love your Poem!
The moment I read the title of this post a childhood school hymn came into my mind and If I remember correctly Ivor you have Welsh ancestors .
We sang the English version regularly at my school, but I will be the first to admit that no-one can beat the Welsh version! Close your eyes and enjoy.

  2. Beautiful poem, Ivor! Vivid word-pics! 🙂
We’ve all had rough emotional nights, little sleep, bad dreams, etc…and this poem reminds us that music…the music in our heads, the music on the radio, etc., can keep us company, give us peace, help us relax, lift our moods, etc.! YAY! 🙂
Keep rockin-n-rollin’, Ivor! But stop at some point and get some rest! 😉
    HUGS!!! 🙂
