G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. This is very poignant, Ivor. I think a lot of us wonder how far we want to take writing and pour over the why we do things the way we do, is it enough, etc. I love how this started out almost in questioning yourself as a writer and morphed into a progressive self acceptance. When looking into mirrors, we tend to scrutinize before accepting and then seeing some good. Well done.

    1. I really like your comments, the are correct in what I was trying to say in my poem, and I didn’t want to story to be too self analytical, yes, a touch of, humour, and in the mirror, I saw my dad.. and then I reflected on my life. Thank you Luna πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ’›

  2. Congrats, Ivor! This is one of your bestest poems! You are SO much like your Dad and I know he is ever so very proud of you! He’s with you AND watching over you! πŸ™‚
You express yourself so beautifully in poems…but if you did give a bigger writing a go…you’d do well with that, too! πŸ™‚
Your poems are filled with wisdom, honesty, heart-felt emotions, encouragement, etc! They are so relatable! πŸ™‚
I know life’s been tough on you…but each and every day I do wish you to have more glad than sad. πŸ™‚
