Hello dear readers, I would like to send a big thank you to, a dear penfriend of mine, and fellow poet, for her help and collaboration with the writing of this poem, especially the last stanza, which was a jumbled mess at one stage.
Knock Me Down With A Feather
The winds may be strong
In the direction of my swan song
Blowing fresh upon my face
I feel a roar from grace
Crooked feathers do fly
Old feathers become dry
Angel’s wings soaring on the wind
Angel’s wings failing, are left behind
After the breakages
There’s a wreckage
And I must restart the race again
For aching bones, it’s a strain
Too many pieces down the drain
Every-time I showered, in the warm rain
I see my world, in scrambled grades
From loving rainbows, to gliding downhill on roller blades
Where true words were found, deep in the ever-glades
And I’m not afraid, to call my dirty pitchfork a silver spade

A fabulous collaboration!! Well done! And I loved the last stanza (and all of the others to be honest—such striking and thought provoking imagery) so it ended up very well.

A powerful poem, Ivor! And a beautiful result from a partnership between two poets! 🙂
Keep using those feathers to fly. 🙂 Each season of life brings challenges and has it’s positives and negatives just like nature’s seasons. 🙂
I’d say you’re having an amazing “second half” in your life…with your wonderful actions, your words, your writing, your presence, (ETC 🙂 ) you are changing the world in positive ways. You have many “chapters” still to “write”. 🙂
I was sitting here thinking about how proud your parents, and Carole, would be of your life these days. You are a help and an encouragement to so many people. 🙂 Thank you!
HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…that song always touches my heart.

Oh, Carolyn, this Collaboration/Assistance and feedback result, means a lot to me, the penfriend who helped me has recently come out of bad marriage (Abused), and also is home recovering from a complicated internal operation, and I’ve been in constant with her, to help keep her spirits up. She has been enjoying all my poetry, I’ve sending her, over the last month or two,….. and last night I was completely stuck with how to finish off this poem.. Then I ask her if she could help me out…… The result being this fabulous poem, but more importantly I could feel her joy at being involved in the project… our messages to and fro, went on during the evening…. for me ..,and her… the conversations were very heart-warming… xxx ((Hugs))

Thank you Robert, I’m thrilled that you you enjoyed my poem , it means a lot to me that my words are appreciated on this worldwide forum. Oh, and that last line, I think was trying to declare, that even though my life has been one big dirty and painful struggle, I’m proud of how I have coped, and happy to have been able to achieve my best, despite the difficulties I have had to dig through…. I hope these words of the last line portrayed my life in a positive way 😊🤗. Again thank you Robert for your ongoing support and encouragement, your comments warm my heart 😊🤗☺️
