Climbing Each Stair

Life’s edges are not always square

The world’s big and round out there

We’re surrounded by free air

Enough for everyone to share

Inhale deeply, when climbing each stair

Jump across, yesterday’s broken earthenware

There will always be another thoroughfare

Wandering up, to grandma’s rocking chair

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Sue, originally the piece started as a Haiku, but I kept writing the rhymes words, and actually I was struggle with that line, until I thought of “thoroughfare”, and I love it 😁💙🌏

  1. AW! and OHMYGOODNESS! and YAY! This has immediately become another of my favourites of your poems, Ivor! Wowza! It is uplifting, relatable, and important! 🙂 I’m so happy to now have the word-pictures you’ve created in my mind’s bank…I will withdraw them when I need them…which will be often.
    (((HUGS))) and thank you! 🙂
