Above the Flames

Mother nature has decided

Humans!

You’ve been given eons of time

Humans!

You’ve had the torch, but failed to see the light

Our Mother

Is rekindling her furnace

She’s back-burning her own forests

Projecting black smoke signals

Obvious messages, to feel, hear and see

Yes Father

Where there is smoke, there is fire

She’s furious, and our planet’s ablaze

Sisters And Brothers

Feel her scorching heat

Blistering your waltzing feet

Hear her cracking explosions

Bursting your deafened eardrums

See her soaring flames

Blinding your greedy eyes

Humans!

There’s no point, looking up to the sky

Seeking your saviour in heaven

You’re not in charge

Abandon your selfish barge

Our Mother

Controls your clouds and rain

It’s time to show her Kindness, and end your pain

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thank you Sue… yes … every now and then, things activate my thoughts about ‘our’ planet, and I feel compelled to write my thoughts/opinions down….

  1. Our environment is changing with everything we do to it. Signals from Mother Nature should be coming in loud and clear; yet, we continue our destructive behavior.
We’re experiencing severe fires in California. Sadly, many have lost their homes. Your poem saying a great deal with every word.
Hope you’re feeling well. Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. Beautifully written. Mother Earth Our Earthly Mother is our creator she creates our physical being and provides all the nourishment we need, not just us but all living beings on Earth. Everyone forgets about Mother Earth it does not matter what action she takes people believe it is someone elses’ fault and not theirs. We all have to accept our responsibility for the wellbeing of our planet.

So sad that the fires are going on long. 😦
Us Human-Beans must do our part to help our earth and Mother Nature is necessary to help us.

      1. I only have time to blog a post once a week…and it’s usually on Tuesday or Wednesday each week. So stop by when you are able.
My life has become super busy, even busier lately, so I might have to just read and comment blogs based on who comes by to read my blog. I have to narrow it down somewhere.
        HUGS!!! 🙂
