Our land is burning

Embers, blowing in the wind

Our hearts are on fire

I’m afraid the area of the bushfires has dramatically increased since these figure were calculated……..this weeks fires are yet to be added…….

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. I’m afraid the situation might worsen this weekend, the affected areas are expecting temperatures to be over 40’C.
Last Monday in Mallacoota it reached 49’C ((120’F)), the flames where over 70 meters high….. It’s beyond comprehension. …. We were covered in smoke today, and Geelong is 300 miles away
This is as bad as gets, people in middle of the affected areas are in Hell…. 🤔🤔🌏

      1. I can’t even come close to understanding or imagining this horror Ivor. I hope there is relief soon. I see there are sites coming up everywhere to donate to. If you know of any places that are good sites, maybe you could share them.

    1. Yes !! the greedy government are selling coal to India which requires huge amounts of our water resources to be mined. And we’re in middle of devastating droughts and fires, The backlash is growing rapidly against his government and the people feel they’re being sold out, and cheated on.
      The fires are horrendous,
      The drought is devastating
      The government is greedy
      Putting money first,
      The environment last.

    1. We are being tested to the limit. What’s happening is beyond comprehension. Our earth is rebelling…
      The drought is devastating
      The fires are horrendous
      The government remains greedy
      Money first
      Environment last
      When will they learn

      1. We are doomed by our own greed, it is abhorrent. All the noise in our American politics is really a mask for greed. We need better leaders who actually lead and not just take.

      2. I’m afraid all the things I write are all right in front of there eyes, plain as the choking smoke there are swallowing…… their greed is becoming their suicide….. their minds are blind, they only live for their own greed, they do not think think about the future, …………why do they think THE EARTH IS NOT DYING….

  1. Ivor, my heart is with you and everyone affected. It’s an unbelievable tragedy. I pray for rain and cooler temperatures, and that the powers that be understand that this is symptomatic of wider issues that need to be addressed immediately.

  2. Your haiku captures it all.
    So scary. So sad. 😦

You have our prayers, thoughts, and hopes…for everyone, and everything, affected. We wish we could do more for the people there.

Oh, how things HAVE to change if we want a future on this planet.
