Nineteen Steps

I’m not blind

look up

there

upon spiralling

warm air

a golden leaf

hovering

like a dove

between

heaven and earth

floating

on a sea of love

there

waiting

a golden angel

forever

faithful

oh, love

aren’t you tired yet

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. As nostalgic as I am, …I’m going out to concert tonight, featuring ‘Taylor Henderson’….. the son of l a lovely lady who help me look after Carole…. I’m sure she’ll be at the show, and hopefully we’ll catch up…..xxx

    1. It was just a little dream, but when I wrote it this morning, I deliberately didn’t use the word “the”, and I surprised myself, with how much emotion I was able to impart, in so few words….

      1. It happened by accident, when I was writing the poem, I didn’t have “the” in the first 5 lines, and then it occurred to me, to keep it going… then I was struggle for a title, funnily enough, the poem is 19 lines, hence “Nineteen Steps”…

    1. Thank you Laura…. It was just a little dream…. then I surprised myself with the wording….. I wrote the poem without using the word “the”….. and the poem ended up quite emotional…. the song is one Leonard Cohen’s most emotional one’s,….. my photo was last night’s sunset….

    1. I hope the booklets meet your expectations…….
my little poem… was just a little dream…… and an experiment of mine to do a poem without using “the” or “and” … but I ended up with one “and”….. I’ll try again one day…..
