Broken Sails
Yesterday, a sudden stormy gale
Ripped through my leafy sail
And tore my oldest branch down
Crashing onto the ground
Leaving my main mast, hurtfully marred
A long open wound, and I’m painfully scarred
Mother, will dry my weeping tears
And I’ll recover to live another thirty years
Fatefully, my debris fell safely
All my owners guests escaped injury
And I left their ship damage free
Tomorrow they’ll clear my messy sea
Then rest under the shade of me

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

The resiliency of trees that suffer this type of damage is amazing. Talk about a will to live. ❤

Yes Jo, their pain is temporary, and they recover and live on, big and strong. I think spiritually that’s what we want to be like.. 🌏🤔

The wild weather is really having an impact Ivor. I’ve noticed so many huge limbs down here too…. lovely homage to the storm.

Ohhh this is just so sad. Seeing old and sturdy trees being toppled down either by nature itself or by man. Such a loss Ivor. And your poem is a beautiful reflection of how it laments.
