There’s a Heartbeat, Within Every Dream

The persistent rain, drizzling all week

The misty drops playing a gentle tune on our roof

Reminding our souls, how we exist softly meek

Remembering souls we’ve lost, we the leftover proof

The hovering clouds, hide thoughts of yesterday

The lifting fog, delivers today’s golden sunbeams

Reminding our hearts, why we love, why we stay

Remembering our every heartbeat, within every dream

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  2. The rain drops always clear the way for clarity of thought, remembrance of days gone bye and those we loved who chose to fly so high and we feel them smile down on us as the sun rays flow through after the rain drops led us to missing you.

  3. What a beautiful photo! Perfect for your poem! And that song…makes a wonderful trio-partner to photo and poem!
Your poem made me teary-eyed. And it made me sigh.
We can “see”, “hear” and feel those we love in so many aspects of nature. They are never really far from us…yet we feel far from them, sometimes, and miss them always.
This is one of your bestest, Ivor…the word-pics AND the emotions are so vivid! πŸ™‚
    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚

    1. Oh dear Carolyn, I very much appreciate your wonderful comments,, the pic’ is taken at the end of my Lane, and the song I came across by accident when I was searching for another song on YouTube..
Your teary reaction, reciprocates the teary reaction of the writer while he was penning the poem πŸ˜’πŸ’™πŸŒ

    1. Replying to myself because why not! I just went down the YouTube rabbit hole and listened to the version I used to play a lot (The Knife) and now I’m having a fun game of nostalgia!

    1. Sometimes I wonder how I do it…. I’m not litery, I nearly failed English expression at school… my knowledge of the methods and skill of poetry is limited… I can’t spell very well, and I don’t know how to punctuate…. BUT, somehow the words end up on a piece of paper in front of me πŸ’™πŸ“„πŸŒ

  4. Ivor, this was a beautifully lifting poem and so touching. I love this part:
“The lifting fog, delivers today’s golden sunbeams
Reminding our hearts, why we love, why we stay”
We can lose so much in life, go through so much and yet we get those little reminders that life can still be so beautiful and worth living. I love this poem!
