A Distant Shadow

from a distance

I Know that girl

striding high

beyond that distant sky

I know that smile

from a mile away

years of distance

have passed by

that’s my pathway

until that day

when distance

will be tomorrow

and face to face

they’ll be just one

distant shadow

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. how beautiful is this Ivor, to recognise that smile that is etched upon our hearts forever, that we don;t just see it but feel it. A gem of a poem for my Saturday morning reading. thank you

      2. Cool and runny here… yep an indoors day…..exercises and writing… exercises and blogging….. exercises and housework…… exercises and eating… πŸ˜„πŸŒ

  2. You know this made me cry.
Carole is never social-distancing from you, Ivor…she is always there in your heart, on your mind, by your side, cheering you on! πŸ™‚
When all of this social distancing has passed, everyone will be face to face again, one day, in person…
And after passing on we will be face to face again in the hereafter. πŸ™‚
