Dreams of Hope

today there’s menacing trouble

one day we’ll fly out of our bubbles

hopefully people’s profanity

and selfish insanity

will cease after the matinee

and they’ll resurrect humanity

there shall be more grief

but there will be relief

when love will grow closer

between barriers and the waiter

in my courtyard you’ll exist

in the green leaves of hope

in my heart you’ll exist

in the hum of my souls hope

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Beautifully encouraging poem, Ivor! We must always hold on to hope and help other people find hope!
That color of green, and that plant, say “HOPE!” and make me smile! 🙂
That song/vid made me grin and giggle! Yes! 🙂

    1. Thank you Gina, and the poem is one of those, that is made-up of 4 separate Ivor comments to my followers poems. Some how these 4 pieces sat together almost perfectly to make up this poem… with just a few word changes… but ‘hope’ has been a strong theme of mine over the past few weeks 😁🌏😊

      2. Hi Gina, I’m back, I’ve been on the phone with my friend Barb, the lady I went to China with. I’m afraid she’s got cancer back again, and she has to have an op’ on her bladder, of course, she is down a bit… we had a nice long chat… It’s a bit tough, I can’t go over and see her… 😢😔🌏

      3. so sorry to hear about Barb, even more so during these times, getting to hospital and the worry about the virus. am sure you lifted her spirits, it is always good to chat with Ivor. life goes on, doesn’t it regardless and there are other illnesses like kidney failure, heart attacks etc, we still need to focus on those and cancer patients too. each day my patients worry about their dropping immunity levels and hospitals only perform emergency surgeries. I could not go see my dear friend who lost her husband today to throat cancer, my heart is in pieces thinking about her, only police and funeral home came to attend to her, she is all alone, kids are overseas, and like you, I could only offer words. sigh

  2. The lines,
    “there shall be more grief
    but there will be relief
    when love will grow closer
between barriers and the waiter” are filled with hope and optimism. Indeed testing times but we will emerge stronger and better.
