Shangri La

On “Weekly Prompts” the word: Desolate, is the weekend challenge. Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> HERE… Below is my response to the their prompt.

Shangri La

I’m not on a desolate island

My head is not buried in the sand

And I am not going crazy

You might be crazier than me

Because I saw you reading about

How to fly overseas

I used to be the sanest

Old man in town

You could always find me

On top of Mount Everest

Now I’m locked away

In between my two ears

Playing one handed ping pong

In between crowd-less cheers

Listening to musical ding dong

In between my poetry and beers

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

      1. Ivor, it’s a pity you don’t live in the UK and near to me, I could share my stockpile of gifts of red wine!
I’m thinking of taking up juggling again, I spent my childhood mastering the art! These days I doubt if I could catch one ball without dropping it! πŸ™‚

We are so very grateful to have a safe comfortable home during this self-isolation. I keep thinking of those who don’t have a safe place to self-isolate. 😦

      2. oh wow! what was the topic?

last night our poetry group explored Bob Dylan music and the wonderful lyrics of Simon and Garfunkle. We had a hoot! Some friends joining in from India and the Middle East too.

We got a little carried away well till midnight but was lots of fun.
