Dragons And Faeries

Dragons And Faeries

My dragon flew me to New York

His scaly tail was singed

By the stoic statue’s torch

As we were landing, upon Central Park

And in the city’s mystical forest I stood

Amongst strawberry fields and woods

Atop the plaque of my dreams

I imagined, how life should’ve been

My naked soul, a vision unseen

I have a dream, like John’s world

Togetherness, love pristine

The apple uneaten

And the snake shyly beaten

I see peace, within evil’s tiredness

Burnt-out flames, of the devil’s nakedness

Leaving us life’s, leftover ashes

Then the peace dove shall arise from the ruins

And the lost faeries, will return as humans

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. This poem made me feel that you really saw some things you wanted to share in a different way. I once wrote about my time on a crowded freeway as bottles going down the conveyor belt. I dont get these … what are they called … metaphors? like I used to. I love when you see words meaning one thing while it suggests another. Sorry for the confusing praise.
