Really Real

There I was in Bensalem, just east of Philadelphia, at my cousin Ken’s home, with my cousin-in-law Joanne, my niece Kerri, and my 2 grand nieces Kylie(10) and Avery(4)…we were gathered around the dining-table….. I had my notebook and I was scribbling a few words, my ”really real” faeries were all interested in the little piece I was writing (with the cute Avery sitting on my knee)… and so with their collective input and close guidance, I wrote this poem for them….. and then I had the joy of reciting the poem, to my avid “faerie” fans !!

Really Real

I’m hazily awakening, from my afternoon slumber

Hearing a summer thunderstorm pounding

Wet fat drops splattering the ground

Greening the fields of Bensalem

Eyes curiously opening, I’m drifting

Floating upon a mystical cloud

In a magical mist, where faeries live

Happily dancing and prancing above my head

Gently fluttering on the edges of my cosmos

Sprinkling my body with stardust, and blowing me kisses

And granting my real dreams, reality wishes

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  2. How do you do that? No matter, you did it – just read this out to the little child of the fae ( she is 5) who lives next door to me (over the fence of course, we are still locked down here) and she’s squealing with delight about it and this man I know on the internet who writes with the fairies. She has a question: do Australian fairies have fairy kangaroos?

I think you have a wee fan, Ivor

      1. She’s lovely and yes her imagination is amazing. Today its all things Australian – oops. I now have a Koala I bought back from Sydney a fair few moons ago going through the wash and sanitize. I think he is going to a better home where he’ll be loved.

        FAIRY.
I am the Fairy Mab: to me ’tis given
The wonders of the human world to keep:
The secrets of the immeasurable past,
In the unfailing consciences of men,
