My Scenic Saturday

The Weekend Challenge on Weekly Prompts is, Scenic. Please go over and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> Here … Below is my photographic article in response to the prompt…

My Scenic Saturday

After writing my daily poem in the morning, I then pottered around in my courtyard garden, however my fingers were becoming frozen from the frosty dawn, and I decided to delay the potting, until after going out for my usual Saturday coffee and cafe visit, to the scenically rural Box Office Cafe. The above photos are from my lunchtime visit today. The winter sun was starting to warm me up, and on viewing my photos, you’ll understand, (maybe), why I frequent this quaint and rustic establishment….

It was definitely a lot warmer when I arrived home. Last week a friend of mine made me two wall hanging racks out old wooden pallets. I hung them up during the week, and today was my day to fill the two pallets with plants… The below photos, were taken after I finished the potting and planting…. and I’m very pleased with the gorgeous ”scenic” outlook of my small but vibrant courtyard…

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Oh it gets cold in the mornings I remember winter so well. We forget the climate is not always warm and sunny. Lucky you have a beautiful cafe near you to go for a walk and get some delicious cakes and coffee. How kind your friend making the plant wall hangings for you. Hope you get the plants done without freezing your fingers off.

  2. I love your beautiful courtyard Ivor.
Very wet here today and my modem seems to have blown in the thunder storm! So I’ve thumbed a lift on Victoria’s modem. I can just about get a signal at my side of the house if Istay put and don’t move!

      1. The temperature here this morning is also 11° a bit cooler than I’d like for summer and definitely not hot like it was a few days ago when my kitchen registered 29°. It’s raining and a bit breezy, but this is a typical English summer. If it was this temperature in winter we would be delighted! 🙂

  4. Your courtyard IS gorgeous, Ivor! 🙂 It’s wonderful to see all of the textures, colors, and shapes of plants that keep you company.
Glad you got out and about and added your beautiful smile to the scenic Saturday! 🙂
My kids introduced me to Ray LaMontagne back in about 2005 and I loved his voice on the first listen. 🙂

PS…keep your fingers and all your other parts warm! And stay safe and well!
