In Need of a Wise Owl

I’ve been searching the planet for our wisest owl

One that doesn’t droop his jowl, nor scowl

Are you the clever owl who will lead our world

Perched there stoically with wings unfurled

The statesman of our ancient forests

And guardian of our forgotten promises

Wisdom radiates from your knowing eyes

What do you observe from your throne in the sky

Are we honest enough, are we even worthy?

Have we enough modesty, are we even earthly?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

But, yes, the world needs better leaders…wise, benevolent, servant leaders. πŸ™‚
Seems like none today are as wise as leaders from the past. 😦
Derrick’s photos are always beautiful and inspiring! πŸ™‚

    1. And Derrick is so generous in letting me use his photos….. but when I’m using one of his photos, I do try extra, to write a good piece for his photo….
Owls are inspiring birds to write about, they are natures regal custodians …
