Who’s Rowing My Boat in the Dark?

Am I in hibernation?

Or am I lacking inclination?

Am I awake and living?

Or just lying here dreaming?

Why do I dream so much?

Visions feel alive to touch

Half awake I scribble these notes

Half asleep, am I falsely afloat?

On my mystical Noah’s Ark

Have I the right to ask?

Who’s rowing my boat in the dark?

Is it her, my brave Joan of Ark?

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Fascinating poem and questions!

You’ve inspired me to say, we WILL keep moving forward…even on the dark days. πŸ™‚
I think it’s cool that it might be Joan of Ark rowing! I want to believe that! πŸ™‚

I love Jennifer and Mr. Cohen’s voices together! Always a beautiful blend! πŸ™‚ And THAT song always gets me teary-eyed. πŸ™‚

    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes Nanette, we are all waiting for something to happen, and that’s the anxiety of the situation, waiting, while the weight of the pandemics invisible cloud keeps pushing us down, like extra lumps of gravity on our backs πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™πŸŒβ˜πŸŒ₯
