G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Thank you Gina… I wasn’t sure whether my poem really finished, but I published the words anyway, I’m heading out to to a little plumbing job this morning… I’m so pleased you think the poem is ok…ππ
stay safe and work safe Ivor. is it still chilly out there? I tihnk it conveyed some deep sentiments of our current situation and loved your metaphors.
It may be the end of the the Olympic Games which brought so many together under a flame. We need to shine out our flames to show those who are looking for truth and love where we are. Great song.
Perhaps the games will have to be virtual as I am sure Govts will not allow so many people to travel to one place. Personally I would like the gatherings to resume as how many people died from any virus during the last gathering for the Olympics.
I love the image of the snails leaving their shells… it seems like ours get ripped off us all the time..I like to think too there is a light burning and I take great comfort from the Sun lately I breathe its energy into my heart and know we are made of stars, whatever worldly things occur we will continue on as part of that light… β€
Hello Deb, how are you… I’m just back from my Coffee and cake, and a nice walk in the sun… I worked again this morning, so all round it’s been a good day for me… my poem is basically a positive one, but there’s still plenty of unanswered questions about the direction of our future….
((Hugs))
Its great you are getting the work Ivor that must keep you in touch.. What kind of cake did you have today..?
Yes, Ivor. Everything is changing so much. and its getting to feel worrying with the direction things are heading.. Will we be even more isolated and out of touch? I feel this all of the time.. Its so important to have each other right now… so good to hear your news.. lots and lots of love and hugs β€ β€ β€
Yes, It’s important to keep in with everyone we can… even under these difficult distance circumstances…just to feel like we are a part of the universe….
“Love is our universe within
Without our universe there is no love ”
((hugs))
The cake was a apple, ginger and oatmeal one
xx
Wow Yumm I think I have to make a cup of tea Ivor.. I do believe the universe is based on love when we fail to love its like we cut off the flow of creative energy. and when the earth gets damaged that happens and it happens when humans hurt and distance from each other and love.. thats when things get really sad and desperate.
Your poem, your photo, and that song got me teary-eyed.
Yes, the torch will burn brightly again…and until it can we will carry it proudly in our memories and in our hearts!
(((HUGS))) π
thank you Carolyn… I suppose my mind was thinking about Olympics,,, It’s 20 years since I had my first bad stroke… when the 2000 Olympics were being held in Sydney… and I spent the entire Olympics flat on my back here in Geelong Hospital.. I think this poem is full of hope… and the Olympics will recover…. the same as I did 20 years ago…
Thanks Kate, 20 years ago was the Sydney Olympics, and that was when I had my first stroke, I spent the entire Olympics flat on my back in hospital… ππ
Ivor, I am looking forward to the time when we can rebuild better than before. Hope I live to see it!
Your poem is so beautifully written, and the colorful metaphors drove home the extent of the damage to our world and way of life. I hope people are listening. β€ Enjoy your cake. Stay safe and healthy!
Thank you Cheryl….. there’s back ground story to this poem…. 20 years ago when I suffered my first stroke, the Sydney 2000 Olympics were being held…. and I can’t remember much, as I was flat on my back in hospital for the entire Olympics….. I survived, and my flame’s still burning, and hopefully the Olympic Flame will survive too….
Thank you Carol… It’s 20 years since I had my first stroke, the Sydney Olympics, and I spent the entire Olympics flat on my back in hospital… hence this poem of hope !!

This virus is going to be a permanent part of life, so we have to learn how to cope and live with it ππ
