Ascending

Every day we ascend

We awake, stretch, and bend

Arise from our dreams

Curiosity bursting at the seams

Step by step we climb

In search of life’s rhyme

That crescendo of love

Cascading from above

The quest for answers never stops

Until our eternal sun drops

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

“And then it was so clear for me to see
    I wanna feel extraordinary love
A love that always echoes through my mind
    I wanna feel extraordinary love
A love that only comes from withinside.”

    1. Erika Wennerstrom is amazing Carolyn… Oh the wonders of YouTude bringing me so much glorious music into my loungeroom…
I’m ecstatic you love this poem… I attended a Zoom poetry group meeting this morning, “from America”, (..I had great time), and we had to write a couple of poems from pieces that the host read out… anyhow .. I’ve used some of my writings there in this poem today…. The meeting, with 6 other poets was a fabulous experience for me….. and I’ve a few more words from the event to come….. I’m still on a high, and I’ve buzzing ever since…((Hugs)) 😀😊😍

      1. Ivor,
I am so enjoying reading all the comments that others are sharing about this poem. I am lucky to say I got to hear it first and in your own voice. Thanks for joining me for a writing circle. I have another one this Sunday at the same time if you have any friends who want to give it a try.
It was so fun to almost meet you in person.

      2. Definitely a great buzz for me Ali… I’d forgotten how much I’m missing my poetry group and writers meetings, and we probably won’t be restarting until the new year…

    1. This one is a spin off from the Writing Circle poem ‘On and On We Go’…. and I had a few lines in my notebook that I threw into this one, and again I surprised myself with the outcome… It’s been a fun couple of days playing with the ideas created at the forum…. and there’s another one for tomorrow…
