Grumpy Bears in Chains


The crashing noise started after midnight

When the growling thunder gave darkness a fright

I was shaken by the storms furious hard rain

Sounding like grumpy bears in chains

Thumping my iron roof with their heavy paws

And lashing at the awnings with their steely claws

Then the giant drops turned into falling ice-blocks

And I rushed back inside to shelter behind the dog box

    1. Thank you Ingrid… haha .. not sure where the grumpy bears came from, I suppose it was raining ‘cats and dogs’ and my mind changed it to ‘tigers and bears’.. but tigers didn’t fit in with my poem, so hence I had bears… yep, clear as muddy paws…. 😀😎

  10. Love the word-pic of grumpy bears and the sound made! 😮 😀
    I love rain, a heavy snow falling quietly, even a noisy storm. But I respect that noisy storm and get in and let it do it’s thing outside. 🙂
    Coop, on the other paw (HA! 😀 ) is afraid of thunder. 😦 He desperately wants to be held, on a lap, during a noisy storm.

    1. Then me and Coop would make a good scaredy cat pair…😀😎… although i am awe of the power of big storm… .. haha… raining ‘tigers & bears’ sounded a lot heavier than plain old ‘cats & dogs.. 😀😍
