G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

“waiting for life’s next update” isn’t that the truth.
Yes Ingrid.. hopefully my words conveyed that ok.. these were after midnight thoughts, but while they’re in my head, I have to write them down…. and then I get excited about the idea and I don’t stop until I’m happy… I think I posted the article at 4.00am πβΊ… crazy Ivor… but that’s me… ππΆπ
Thank you Dear Deb.. I’ve been out today, working on my manuscript .. wow basically finished the proof-reading, editing, and formatting.. . My Geelong Writer group friend who help was absolutely fantastic… the overall layout lots fabulous…
Yes it’s all very exciting, and my dear niece Kerri (Philadelphia) has agreed to do some illustrations in the book for me…. with the organised structure of my chapters, the layout has 4 blank pages before 4 of my 10 chapters, and I thought some drawings on those blank pages will enhance the look of my book… … πππ
I wondered if you were going to use photographs Ivor.. its lovely its going to be a collaboration.. that makes it extra special….the blank pages sound a great idea.. giving a sense of time for reflection…on each poem?
Kerri is an incredible artist/drawer, and because of her severe disability, her are done via a stippling method … I’ll send you an email with a few of her painting… ππ
Brilliant, Ivor! Vivid word-pics that evoke emotions!
Baggage…everyone has it…good to take inventory and toss out what should be tossed out…revel in a life lived…and learn from all of it.
Perfect photo, poem, and song trio! π (Powerful song!!! “make this chaos count”…love this! I’m gonna’ listen to the song again and again AND tuck that phrase in my heart.)
HUGS!!! π
PS…love your Philly memories in your photo.
Definitely my Phily memories always in my baggage… !!… I suppose I wrote the poem because I’m feeling the extra baggage of my manuscript at the moment, but thankfully and excitedly we finished the proof reading and editing late yesterday….. YEAH…and the words “make this chaos count” are very appropriate for me…. ππ
Yes, and your Philly memories are always in your heart! π
Continued best wishes for your manuscript and all the hard work you are doing! ‘Twill be worth it! It’s an amazing collection of your writings and needs to be read by many!!! π
Work now…Celebrate soon!!! π
Funny, but it’s something we talked about when I was in Bensalem last year, “Kerri if I ever write a book I’ll have you to do the artwork for me”… now it’s a dream come true… ππππ

Baggage comes…and it goes. Constantly changing. (Though many, I think, have a well worn satchel that stays with them a lifetime…)

Yes, my poem is like that , and every satchel has a story..
