The Hummingbird Knows

This week the Weekend Challenge from Weekly Prompts is, Snippet. Please go and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> HERE. And below is my little snippet of a poem, in response to the ‘Weekly Prompt’

The Hummingbird Knows

I’m searching for a safe nest

a place for my weary wings to rest

a hostel for the hovering bewildered

above the rainbows where eagles soar

beyond the clouds silver linings

away from the world’s selfish cravings

a symphonic haven for my soul to call home

where the hummingbird knows the words for my poem

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. I was chatting to a fellow elderly friend at the Cafe this afternoon, and she mentioned we are on the verge of going into the ‘home for the bewildered’ I laughed, and said “What a great line, and I’ll Write a poem using your line”, and I wrote most of the poem then and there at the cafe, but she had already gone, I shall show her next time we catch up… 😊😀

      1. It’s been a habit of mine for years…. pick-up your notebook and go give it a try… write about your observations, the smell, the smiles, your inner feelings and emotions you are sensing within the surrounding….. “maybe you see the universe in a blade of grass like I do”

  1. Aren’t hummingbirds wonderful!!! And so is your poem and song choice, Ivor! 🙂
I definitely feel the emotions in your poem…and I can relate to it. We all need that place of retreat that you described so beautifully…be in our minds, our writings, our readings, our daydreams, etc. 🙂
