Throwback Friday, Myfanwy and Glenys, by Ivor Steven

An old poem that I posted on “Go Dog Go Cafe’s”, Throwback Friday segment.. a bit of fact, a bit of fiction, a bit of fun.

Go Dog Go Café

Today’s poem I wrote in September 2018, and the story is mixture of fact and fiction. The tree in the photo below, is of the ancient “Pontfadog Oat Tree” in Wales, said to be 1,200 years old,… unfortunately the old tree was blown down by a storm in 2013……

Myfanwy And Glenys

We haven’t been here for years

At Pontfadog’s Swan Inn drinking beers

The cozy lounge’s open fire invites us to stay

Reminiscing, we talk of bygone days

Remembering our twin aunties, Myfanwy and Glenys

When they giggled and blushed at our first public kiss

We were sitting upon our aunties picnic rug

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Hello Ivor lovely poem and very well written.

Some thirty years or so ago I watched a movie made in Australia; the movie was called Muriel’s Wedding and the story took place in a town or city called Porpoise Spit.

Your Poem brought back that pleasant memory to mind. 😎
