A Finite in the Infinite

Curiosity opens my eyes at first light

I venture beyond my cocoon of fright

And begin to see the world’s perceived fears

Wingless, I crawl away from the sea of tears

Tired of romancing the stone

I threw a rock into the ocean

Hit the great white ghost in the head

And fed the hungry seagulls more bread

This is no time to throw the towel in

I just heard the bell for round two ring

The power of the universe glows at night

And I am but a finite in the infinite

The Ordinary

Today I’m presenting the other poem that I wrote at the poetry forum held on Sunday, a “Writing Circle”, hosted by Ali Grimshaw.

The Ordinary

Looking out my window

I hear, the wind blowing

I see, the sun glowing

I smell, the garden flowers

Suddenly there’s a thud

On the roof above

A branch from my neighbour’s tree

Landed on my verandah

Curiosity drags me outside

No obvious damage done

I smile and say “Hi”

To my courtyard garden

And the flowers respond

“Good morning Ivor”

On and On We Go

Yesterday I attended (via Zoom) an event called a, ” Poetry of Gratitude: Writing Circle”, hosted by Ali Grimshaw. During the meeting we were given two separate “5 minute” writing sessions to write two poems, and below is one the poems that I had written in my allotted time. Tomorrow I might present the other poem that I wrote.

On and On We Go

every second, a commitment

every breath, a moment

every moment, a feeling

every feeling has a heartbeat

and the beat goes on and on

a soft beat to every step, to and froe

and step by step the moments go

a quest for answers never stops

until our eternal sun drops

Time is tiresome, here loafing around

Best I search for my chi at lost and found

I need a reliable Puffin’ Billy

To find a track that’s not too hilly

Heading towards a time and place

Where my mind can safely settle and touch base

While our new revolution replays the old collections

Of peace, love, and compassion without interjections

Broken Shoes

My poem “Broken Shoes”, was totally inspired by Kate’s (CalmKate) thought provoking poem “Witness” you can ‘view her original post’, by clicking on this link >>https://aroused.blog/2020/11/11/witness/

Broken Shoes

More sad news, more sexual abuse

Women being dumped like broken shoes

While men stupidly protect their ‘mates’

Knowing about their blatant mistakes

The multitude’s calls are loud and clear

Victims are not the ones to be smeared

Stop being matey fakes

Decline their dirty handshakes

The continuing abuse is a disgrace

It’s time for male attitudes to about-face
