G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Ivor, beautiful poem. May your joy in 2021 exceed your expectations, and may life be good to you! ❤
Such a beautiful poem! Wonderful thoughts, feelings, goals for this new year. We will appreciate the blue skies AND learn from the dark skies.
You have some loving and beautiful angels watching out for you every day. 🙂
(((HUGS))) 🙂
PS…Always good to hear Mr. Rowe. 🙂
“And on those dark foggy days
When I cannot clearly see the way
Unsure but steadily I shall walk on through
To see beyond the fog, where my sky is still blue”
I suffer the exact same Ivor. In fact i watched the movie about Virginian Woolfe and her love affair with Vita Sackville West and there is this scene where her heart is hurting when she goes down by a wild body of water and is struggling to breathe.. considering the griefs we have both suffered it is not lost on me we would endure this.. and all the fear too that so often surrounds us collectively lately.. At least we can express it in some way.. hugs lovely lovely friend.. ❤
Oh Deb… I could have done with ‘hug’ over the last few days… I’m getting anxious about submitting my manuscript next week…. I know it’s ok and with my proof-reader, we are happy with the final presentation, …. it’s just that in stressful times I need a real shoulder to lean on, for comfort and encouragement….. 💛🧡
Awww I was just making lunch Ivor.. Its hard putting ones creative self out there. I can deeply empathise… I am here to talk to most of the time.. If I can offer any reassurance I will try.. ❤
I’ll be ok once I had my manuscript over… I suppose it’s taken me 6 months to put together, a lot of time, a lot of brain strain… sometimes I’d like to sit and chat, and see her smiling face, and feel those reassuring eyes… she always had so much confidence in me …
HA HA I didn’t expect such a deep voice from the vocalist. Interesting music … your peom is great and expressive in so many ways. Be Safe … 😷 🙏🏻 😊 Isadora 😎

Such a wonderful poem of gratitude! We could do worse than place our expectations in a bookshelf (provided it’s full of books, of course!)

Haha, my bookshelf is overflowing.. but you can also metaphorically read the “bookshelf” to be my guardian angels, Carole, Mum and Dad. 👼☺😊

Simply lovely. I do like the last Verse..”I am to be always thankful
That I didn’t lose myself under life’s waterfall
I am to be always honest with myself
And not expect too much from my old bookshelf…”.
Quite profound and creates quite an image in the mind.

Yes I know… I get awful chest pains at times… it’s not my heart… so they are anxiety episodes…. I breathe slower, and go and do something different…💚💙
