Playing Cards

Today I am presenting the “second” ‘5min’ poem that I wrote at Ali Grimsham’s ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meeting, that I attended on Monday this week, and this was my 3rd session/week with the group, and I am having a delightful time. Here is the page link to get more information about the next writing circle. https://flashlightbatteries.blog/online-writing-circles/ Tickets by donation. All are welcome.

And I’ve also entered my poem in this week’s challenge from “Weekly Prompts” is the word; PRANK. Please go over visit their fabulous site by clicking >> HERE

Playing Cards

To many questions

And I, have not the answers

I am running out of rhyme

It it time?

To go back to school

Me, a forgetful old fool

Or, I could stay here

Wait for the anteater to cheer

Sit in my garden courtyard

Avoid soul searching and just play cards

With Oscar the wise old owl

And Phillip the penguin, he’s my pal

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  3. Such a fun poem, Ivor! You wrote such a wonder in five minutes! Wow! 🙂 Is the artwork yours? I like it very much! ❤ The music is awesome, too!

I envy you playing cards. I never learned, and Robert is a card shark… poker player. He usually beats me at Scrabble, but we have fun playing! ❤

    1. I told Ali I was smiling as I was writing the words.. the mood/aura was very Australian, laid back … and “She’ll be right mate”… and the music is from a great Aussie group, “The Little River Band”, from 40 years ago.. Cheers Cheryl..💙🌏
