Today I went through my initial notes that I made while selecting poems for my book, and it appears that I ‘culled’ 25 poems, that didn’t make the final list, and here is another poem that was ‘cut’ from my new Book “Tullawalla”

Waiting

The earth is waiting

Sick of human’s, and their time wasting

Waiting for their promised cheers

Waiting for less destructive years

Will they give her resolutions of better times?

Will they read, Thor’s neon signs

Will they notice, a smoke covered sun?

Will they be able to breath the air, as a united one?

The earth cannot watch, nor wait

While human’s feed their own greedy plate

Why are they celebrating?

Like blind fools, that are always pretending

As if nothing is going wrong

They can hear the whales crying songs

They can see the polar caps are melting

They can taste the venom of government’s lying

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Another powerful important poem!
I can’t even imagine the time, thought, effort that went into you choosing what poems you’d share in your book. I admire your work and effort! I’m so proud of you! 🙂 I know you know it will be well worth all of your hard work…for so many people around the world will get to read your poems and be impacted positively by them! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

    1. You are very generous and kind Carolyn… Oh and selection process was definitely a strenuous process… and because lockdown and isolation, I had none of local poetry groups to fall back on for advice .. which I missed so much during the year… 😀🤨
